Google’s AdWords system is one of the most popular and most recognised advertising systems on the Internet today. This system allows people to pay to have their advertising displayed on Google search engine pages or on third party sites with which Google has a partnership agreement.
The system works by allowing users to buy keywords. These will usually be words that specifically apply to your business, products and services or website in general. If a web user then does a search on Google and uses your keywords then your advertisement may come up on their search results page as a sponsored listing. This boosts the prominence of your site in search engine ranking terms as it makes it more visible to the person making the search.
You will need to pay a one-off activation fee to get started with Google AdWords. Your costs thereafter really depend on how much you want to use the system and how much you can afford to spend on your chosen keywords. In basic terms you state a maximum amount that you want to spend on a daily basis -- your costs here are generated when a user clicks on one of your AdWords ads. The system will simply work to your set limit and show ads until it is reached.
