Google Maps is an online mapping system provided by Google that allows a user to find and view maps on their computer via an Internet connection. Maps here can be viewed at a basic level through to more detailed versions depending on the user’s location and how much related data has been entered into a specific location.
So, for example, you can use Google Maps to simply find the location of a street you need to visit. In a more detailed version the map you are shown here may also show you local sights of interest and give details of local businesses into the bargain. Businesses can arrange to have their businesses added to the maps here and advertisers can also use the service to run adverts if they wish.
There are various maps on offer within the Google Maps service. You can, for example, use it to see a roads based traffic map which includes a live traffic information bar as well. You can also access standard, terrain and satellite map options. You can also set up any location to show you available extras that may be useful to your search. At the moment these include photos, videos, Wikipedia pages and webcams.
