Google News is the news portal offered by the search engine company Google. The site lists over 4,500 sources from which it picks its articles. It has a variety of page options on offer for those browsing for news with each story directly linked to its original web source. Stories are chosen and then linked to all available news sources so that you can pick and choose how and where you view the news item as a whole.
Current page options include:
- Top Stories
- World news
- UK specific news
- Business news
- Science/Technology news
- Entertainment news
- Sports news
- Health news
- Most popular stories
The site also offers a news alerts function where you can set up an email alert to be sent to you if a news item comes in for an area of interest or search term and a range of RSS feeds. A version of Google News can also be accessed via mobile phone.
Many users of Google News will personalise their start page -- the site aims to give users more focused and personal access to news stories that are likely to interest them and news stories are inter-linked across subjects.
