Google Page Rank

Google Page Rank is one of the analysis tools that the search engine company Google uses to assess sites before it ranks them in its search engine when a user makes a search. In the past much of the indexing here was done on keywords but underhand tactics on behalf of many SEO specialists meant that this system was open to misuse.

The Page Rank system aims to make sure that the search results you get from Google are valid for your needs. So this basically means that if you do a search here then the results you get should match the kinds of sites you would expect to see and they should be relevant to your needs.

Page Rank basically works by looking at links that a site has coming into it and by assessing the importance and relevance of a page/site on that basis. A site that has a lot of links may be seen as a useful and relevant site in itself. Its ranking in the Page Rank system, however, will only really rise if the sites it is linked to are themselves perceived to be of high value. This part of the system was set up to prevent link farming pushing a site up to the top of the rankings for no good reason.
