The Google Toolbar is a web tool offered by Google, the search engine company. This is a slim toolbar that is set up to sit near the top of your browser window and that gives you quick and simple access to a range of regular tasks and actions. This allows you to manage various Internet tasks without the need to leave the page you are on and open up a new/search page. The toolbar has a wide range of features including:
- A search box
- Bookmarking and web history options
- Translation options
- A spellchecking facility
- Popup blockers
- Various customisation options to link to favourite sites and tools
- An autofill form function
The Google toolbar is free to use. You can customise the icons that appear on it to suit your preferences. Many web owners find the toolbar particularly useful because it comes with a PageRank analysis tool. This tool allows you to see the PageRank of a website. It is worth noting that not all features and functions of the Google Toolbar will automatically work with all browsers. Some, for example, are designed to work with IE (Internet Explorer) and some to work with Firefox.
