An Employment Law advisory service will give advice and help to businesses, HR professionals and to individual employees on all issues that relate to Employment Law. Employment Law is the legal area that is concerned with protecting the rights of the individual from a work and employment perspective. Most legislation here is designed to protect the rights of the employee although employer rights are also given protection.
This kind of advisory service may work on a general basis and may simply help a business/individual find out the information that they need to know. An advisor here may, for example, go into a business and train its HR staff on Health & Safety legislation or give one-off project management advice on putting together contracts and documentation for new recruits.
In terms of the individual an employee may find that they need to consult an Employment Law advisor if they have a problem with their employer. They may, for example, feel that they have a case for constructive dismissal or that their redundancy has not been handled/paid correctly. So here they could, for example, consult an advisor or an Employment Law solicitor to see if they have a case to go to an Employment Tribunal.
