HR management systems are generally computerised software programs nowadays. These systems are used by businesses to manage their HR function. In some cases the system may only be designed to work within specific HR areas. In others the system may be spread across many different areas of the company.
So, for example, in one business the HR management system may only be designed to work as a ‘database’ for employee records. It may include issues such as recruitment drives, employee data, payroll and benefit details and so on. If it is given larger scope, however, it may be used on broader levels and may have elements that are connected to senior management systems and finance departments, for example.
In some cases HR management systems may also have special areas that can be accessed by employees. This may be based on giving ‘permissions’ to access certain areas of the system to individual employees or it may be done via a corporate intranet. Here, for example, an employee may be able to check on their own benefit entitlements and on those legal terms and conditions of their employment. Or, they may be able to access online training set up by the HR department.
