HR software is a generic term used to describe any type of software package that can be used to help manage one or more processes within the HR department. This kind of software can be purchased off the shelf or, if it better suits a business, can be built on a bespoke basis to suit the company’s individual needs.
The features and benefits of an HR software system can be varied according to the system that is used and how it is used by the company. What you get here may be a sole focus for one particular element of the HR mix or the software may be able to handle multiple elements at the same time. In some cases businesses will use an HR software package that covers all of their HR needs and that is interconnected with other areas of the business such as accounting and finance.
So, for example an HR software system could be used to manage payroll and benefits issues. It could also be used as a central HR database and management reporting mechanism tracking employees and their movements throughout their careers from the initial recruitment process. The software here may also be used as a training aid/tool.
