HR systems are types of software packages that are specially designed to help a Human Resources department to do some or all of its job. The packages on offer in this sector at the moment may comprise products that you can buy ready made off the shelf or specially designed systems that are built for a specific company and its HR needs.
In some cases a business may use a simple stand-alone HR system that works primarily as an employee database and tracking system. This system may, for example, hold basic employee details, payroll data, career progression stats, recruitment initiative tracking data and training information. This kind of system may only be accessed by members of the HR department and senior staff within the company.
In other cases HR systems may also be used by employees who are allowed to access certain elements of the system but not the system in its entirety. So, for example, a larger HR system may have special areas that employees can go to when they need to find out about things like in-house training, benefits and company rules and regulations. Personal and sensitive data here will not be accessed by all employees in this case.
