Most Human Resources professionals will have some experience of the recruitment process. This may well have been gained as ‘on the job’ training but it many cases this experience will come from specific recruitment and selection training either as part of a general/HR degree or as a stand-alone training course.
In many cases the training that is given here will not necessarily lead to a specific recruitment and selection qualification. Some HR professionals, especially those who recruit frequently as part of their job, may prefer to get a specific industry qualification in these areas.
It is often the case that people who work in Human Resources areas move into this sector from a recruitment background. In these cases they may well have studied for qualifications from the REC (The Recruitment & Employment Confederation) which is the industry body for the recruitment industry. Recruitment and selection qualifications are available here from a basic level up to Degree and Masters qualifications.
In other cases HR professionals without a recruitment background may opt for a qualification given by the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development). This industry body offers all kinds of HR training in these areas including certification in recruitment and selection.
