Management

Management is a business process that uses specific individuals and resources to take control of other individuals, processes and resources to manage their working practices and to achieve specific goals. In a business management can be applied in various ways, all of which may be used by the business at any given time.

So, for example, a business may have a specific management structure in place. This hierarchy of individual managers may all be responsible for individual areas and teams and they may, in turn, also manage other managers within the system. So, for example, a Sales Manager may be responsible for the overall Sales department. This role may also oversee a series of Team Managers, all of whom then take responsibility for their own individual teams within the department.

The aim of a management structure such as this is generally to ensure the maximum efficiency of any given area to make sure that things get done. At lower levels management may involve more tactical processes and procedures such as implementation and delivery to business plans and strategies. These plans and strategies are most often formulated by more senior management personnel within the business who then manage their subordinates through the tactical implementation process.
