Management Consultancy

A Management consultancy is a business that offers help to other businesses when they need business management advice and help. A consultancy here can be a ‘one-man band’ with only one consultant or it can be a larger concern with multiple employees. The aim of using this kind of consultancy is to bring in an external viewpoint and impartial business expertise.

Management consultancy is most often viewed as a solution when a business has a specific problem, issue or need that cannot be dealt with by using in-house expertise. So, for example, a management consultant may come into a company to assess its workforce management procedures to see how effectively they and the business are working. The consultant(s) will then make recommendations on any necessary changes or solutions. The company may then deal with these recommendations themselves or the consultant may do it for them.

Management consultancy can be used across many diverse business areas. Some consultancies in this sector will work within general business sectors, offering commercial advice to all sizes of business in many different areas. Some may specialise in one specific sector or business area. So, for example, a consultancy may specialise in working with businesses that operate in the financial sector or within IT departments.
