Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing involves the use of third parties to help a business attract new customers and to encourage them to perform specific actions such as making a purchase. Here, the primary partner business signs up affiliate marketers (either individuals or businesses) that are then rewarded based on the work they do for the partner business.

Affiliate marketers will work to attract new customers on behalf of companies. Their aim is to get people interested in a product, service or website. They then give them the means to get into contact with the company. So, for example, they may market a special offer to their own customer audience and give them an online link from which they can make a purchase. The primary business makes the sale, without having to spend to attract the new customer.

The affiliate here makes money through the ‘conversions’ it brings to the table. So, for example, they may be paid for every visitor they bring to a website, for every sale that is made or for every action that is made as specified in their affiliate contract. This kind of marketing is particularly popular with online businesses as it gives them a cost effective way of attracting visitors with their marketing spend focused on results.
