The term marketing services is a ‘catch-all’ phrase that is most often used to describe the services on offer from a marketing consultancy. The actual services on offer may vary from consultancy to consultancy but can include:
- Advertising
- Branding
- Promotion
- PR services
- Market research
- Direct marketing
- Field marketing
- Sales promotion
Marketing services may be provided by a specialist individual or by a firm that employs a variety of people. The actual services on offer in this sector may depend on the consultant/consultancy in question. Some consultancies will offer what is often referred to as a full service solution -- this basically means that they can manage most elements of the marketing mix.
In some cases, however, a company or a consultant may only offer specific services and they may also have an industry specialisation. So, for example, an agency may solely work with branding issues and another may only work on promotional services for a specific industry sector.
Some businesses have their own in-house teams working on marketing services. Others will hire in talent and expertise as they need it. In some cases a business will combine general in-house marketing services with the additional hire of specialist skills as necessary.
