During and Post Learning Interventions - 7 Success Factors
Like any successful project, most of the hard work is done BEFORE the main event. Learning is no exception and you should certainly be aiming for 75% of your work to be completed prior to any interventions.
But what's the point in all that hard work if we don't deliver when it counts?
Here are 7 Success Factors for your learning and post-learning interventions....
1. Begin with an emphasis on the purpose of the intervention and how a successful outcome would look.
2. Add emphasis and understanding through the use of familiar success stories from in and outside your organization.
3. Have learners maintain an action plan which evolves throughout the intervention - rather than being a simple 'add-on' at the end.
4. Involve colleagues and managers if your feel their presence would benefit the process.
5. Don't let your interventions become 'here today' gone tomorrow'. Use a number of interventions spread throughout the life of the project and have learners commit to project-related work in-between.
6. Assess and communicate changes in competence as agreed in the pre-learning intervention stage.
7. Reinforce learning by re-visiting learners and assessing changes in behaviour.
