Pre-learning/training Intervention - 5 Factors For Success

1. "Start with the end in mind"

Stephen Covey once proclaimed. And actually, it's a logical approach. If we want to be successful in any activity we need to visualise the final outcome first before we get busy with avtivity.

That's if we intend to be efficient and effective. We do don't we?

So, work with the appropriate manager to understand how great performance would look before you begin to develop an intervention.

2. You can't manage what you can't measure.

Understand the accepted measures within the business. By using measures which management accept it makes both our business case and our future evaluation a whole lot simpler.

3. Gain acceptance of the outcomes at the beginning.

Ask yourself "what do these people need to be doing post learning?"

Gaining acceptance of the outcomes upfront will benefit your design and the success and your interventions.

4. Identify and seek agreement of the development needs.

You will be identifying specific learning needs based upon the skills required to raise performance.

5. Seek feedback from management

The first rule of management is to ask the customer what they would like.

Don't fall in to the trap of believing you know best.

Ask management how you can support them to gain the most from the project.

The success of your intervention will be judged largely by perception so have your client feel part of the process by seeking their input into your proposal and you will win their support.
